Nine | December 2002

'Nine' was Grace's version of the traditional 'nine lessons and carols' service. Each of the nine Bible readings ['lessons'] was given to a different person to interpret as they wished, and to provide a piece of music.

Above & left: Matthew 2:1-12 The visit of the Magi. The Nativity as a chess set - the Holy Family caught up in Herod's power games. The board rests on the Financial Times share pages. Click here for the meditation that went with it.

Yrekcirtcele [pronounced eer-ek-sirt-sellee] mix electronica with easy-listening Christmas records bought from charity shops. It was much better than that description makes it sound - they sold a few CDs.

They were originally called Electrickery, but the name was owned by someone else. So they reversed it.

Mulled wine and mince pies - could be communion.

Right: To illustrate John 1:1-14 'The Word' Moya paints a spiral painting during the service. The first picture was taken at the start of the service, the second at the end.
