If Christ is the Way, then the way is also the destination; therefore this labyrinth has no centre except the blood-red cross, and can be walked in either direction. The items and texts, which are about Christ's life, are placed on it at random. |
The sleeping bag contains the 'Jesus in the sleeping bag' poem. The inflatable globe is a visual pun about 'I am the light of the world'. |
Nails are provided for you to hammer into the cross, in acknowledgement of your part in Christ's suffering. This is a difficult ritual because of its explicit violence and the loud noise which draws attention. The 'cup of suffering' contains not wine but wine vinegar [John 19:29] - with no label to warn you. |
