Vaux | Concrete Liturgy | February 2001

'Concrete Liturgies' is the theme for 2001 - an investigation into urban spirituality.

Left: Jonathan the worship droid. God loves droids too.

Don't you wonder sometimes about sound and vision?

On the floor is a map of London. Draw a journey you have made this week using the fluorescent paint. When the lights go out the map glows white and the trails yellow. "These are some of the places Christ has been this week..."

"Know that I am with you wherever you go"

Right: Each service in this series ends with the casting of a concrete slab containing something from the service. Here it is a tape cassette, on which members of the congregation recorded secret prayers in a side chapel during Communion. The tape is visible but can never be played back, except by God.
